Welcome to "Making Connections!" A blog-post series highlighting the amazing women entrepreneurs we have the pleasure of knowing and working with in Lac La Biche, Plamondon and surrounding areas! Each week we will be highlighting a different woman entrepreneur who is benefiting the community with their knowledge, drive, talent and skill. We're truly honoured and blessed to call these beautiful individuals our friends and are so excited for the opportunity to work with them in our little piece of northern paradise!
Welcome to the fourth feature in our Connections series. I'm absolutely honoured to introduce you to Paula Karayel, fine art and photography pro ;)
I just recently met Paula through our women’s entrepreneur group and I was immediately blown away by her creative talent and her personable approach to not only business, but life. She is definitely a bright light; without saying a word you can feel her genuine love for others.
And then I saw her photography! I absolutely adore Paula’s work. There is a raw playfulness to her shooting that inspires me and motivates me to take my own camera out. She is a fine art genius (seriously, check out some of her incredible edit work) and isn’t afraid to step outside of the box when it comes to shoots. While browsing through her work I came across these incredible photos of a couple in dapper almost 40’s style outfits; I’m kind of obsessed with them haha! The smiles on the couple’s faces are so authentic and captivating - their smiles make me smile. I think that’s what photography is all about really (correct me if I’m wrong, Paula haha) – freezing time and capturing the feelings that were present in that moment; drawing the viewer in and triggering an emotional response just through seeing an image. Needless to say it’s one of many extraordinary shoots taken by this talented artist.
I’ll let Paula tell you a little bit more about herself and her photography journey…
My name is Paula Karayel and I am a Portrait Photographer, as well as a Fine Art Digital Artist. I first picked up my camera in 2007 and haven’t put it down since. I’ve spent my first seven years shooting everything under the sun, which eventually led to my burnout in 2015. I decided to quit portrait photography that year and pursue Fine Art. I played around with Fine Art for two years and came to the realization that I knew very little about what I truly loved to shoot. Now I see that my passion is in lives of women, who’s hearts are being pulled into the direction of their dreams. Women who are finished high school and are about to embark on journey of a lifetime. Women who have found the one their soul loves. Women who want their wedding day remembered. Women who want to re-celebrate the love for their spouse. Women who carry the joy of a new life in their belly. Women who have nurtured a family and want it captured, just as it is. This…is where my heart pulls me. To celebrate the movement in your life.
My Fine Art will always be an expression of what lies in “my” heart. In photographing you, my hope is to fully express what lies in “yours”.
